17 years ago, I was but a little boy. Curious and Vibrant, yet healthy looking kid.
At standard two, I had spent some time in the Adventures class at our Church (SDA), passed the exam and joined the "Pathfinders" class where we used to memorize both Bible chapters and verses, practice various religious programs which would then be presented before the congregation on Saturdays or during special events in our camp meetings each year!
My childhood was but an experience of joy hope , new aspirations and fresh dreams.Growing up in an Adventist family gave me the confidence I needed to grow and flourish.Peace of mind and the joy of the Lord filled my heart in my early days of life.
Meeting my pastor in later years, I was inspired to become a pastor too simply because I developed an interest in him.
His life carried the true meaning of love, he was patient, polite, optimistic, hopeful ever lovely. His mind was filled with astounding wisdom, not to mention his inborn ability to deliver God's massage in a clear, touching and heavenly manner in a way they the holy spirit's presence was felt in our hearts during the service. He had a keen interest in young people enough to stoop so low and play with us in the evenings on Saturdays after service. He used to narrate us bible stories in a very special way. I still remember him telling a story about "The Ark" ( Which Noah made in antediluvian era)
His unique personality attracted me just to become like him when I grow. There was no other way to be like him if I wasn't going to become a pastor!
He was a "Pastor", God had called him into his service from humble beginnings. Christ was his life, he was proud of that !
What does it take to become a good servant unto the Lord? Is there any magic? Is there any set of rules that someone has to recount before joining the call? In this article I will explain what you should do when God calls you into His service so that you can Serve Him with Reverence,Joy and integrity.
Hear the call of Duty
The first step is to " Hear the call". God has called each and everyone of us into the service. In other words, God uses "The Total Members Involvement" strategy into His Mission.(Mathew 28:19,20)
Since we are all called to go out there and reach for others, we are to be ready to bear this responsibility since it is a day for the night comes when we won't be able to do the work.
There is a proper timing of the call. At this point, God is sure that you will do His work perfectly under His guidance.
"IT IS GOD WHO WORKS IN US FOR THE DELIVERANCE OF OTHERS, BY ACCEPTING THE CALL AND ENTERING THE SERVICE, WE BECOME PERFECT IN HIM."
Know your Duty
Since we are sure of the call, the next step is to know our duty; the exact task we are to bear as we joyfully serve Him.
We won't all become pastors!, If so, who will sing? Who will attend the guests ? Who will go out there and give a word of comfort to the brokenhearted? Who will sponsor the Work of God?..again, who will teach and give instructions?.
The number of fake servants is skyrocketing in God's field. There have been Singers who would have been pastors! , There have been Deacons who would have been Teachers !
In the same way, there is a group of unconverted people who have been attracted to enter the service for the sake of materialism and wealth instead of salvation for the perishing souls.
The realization that we are all called into His service should lead us into truly searching our duties to carry His work forward. This will give us joy, hope, satisfaction and peace of mind.
"OUR PRIMARY MOTIVE INTO HIS SERVICE SHOULD BE SALVATION OF THE PERISHING SOULS, NOT MATERIALISM AND ACCUMULATION OF WEALTH."
Strive to know your call of duty, the exact work that God has allocated for you to do. God has blessed you so that you can bless others.
Talented to sing? Sing for the Lord
Talented to speak? Be a pastor and preach the word of God.
Endowed to teach? Become an instructor, teach and guide others into Christ
Blessed with wealth? Give to others and support the gospel work.
Are you kind? Become a deacon, , comfort and uplift others, show them what the love of God feels like.
There is no person whom the lord hasn't blessed. For whatever you have, wherever you are and whoever you are , serve the Lord according to how well He has blessed you.
"WE ARE CHANNELS FOR DISSERTATION OF GOD'S BLESSINGS IN OUR OWN LIVES TO OTHERS, IT IS BY BLESSING OTHERS THAT WE ARE BLESSED EVEN MORE ABUNDANTLY"
From the Bible
Jesus went out and saw Levi, a tax collector sitting at his office and He told him "Follow me" (Luke 5:27). In the same way God stands at the door of your heart, asking you to follow Him. In the same way as His disciples did ,decide to accept the call and follow… Just follow..no room for hindering questions ! Follow now.
From a Chief tax-collector to Discipleship was the intelligent shift of Levi, a "U-turn" that changed his life enough to be documented in the Bible for us to learn.
Jesus asks his disciples " When I sent you without purse, and scrip, and shoes, did you lack anything? " They answered "Nothing" (Luke 22:35). He provided them with everything they needed for survival.
As a God's servant ,go into his service without a worrying about what you will eat, wear and drink. God will ever provide whatever we need in many ways we have never thought about. Your primary motive into His service should not be money or wealth but salvation. All of your desires will come to you in bundle of blessings.
