A letter to brother Charles Mnala.
TUCASA MUHAS Friday Night Worship service 13/03/2020.
I greet you brother Charles and all TUCASA MUHAS members in the name of saviour and our Lord Jesus Christ. l am excited and happy to congratulate to our brothers and sisters who were baptised, and we all commemorated the invitation worship service to join the house of our Lord Jesus Christ. I humbly invite more once again to join the family of MUHAS with love and joy.
Many programmes was conducted including bible discussion which covered three subjects with intensive highlights from presenters including Gods law, Baptism and health. During discussion unfortunately brother Charles raised a concern and asked questions to presenters, although the mass were asked to respond to that question by the moderator and l taken an opportunity to respond to it.
The question was why SDA church re-baptize members who were already baptised after facing some challenges or temptation and move astray from the faith?. The answers l provided was somehow philosophical or was over his experience of nobler gospel understanding. Few minutes later brother Braiton and Mwakyusa followed me and asked another response because the answers were inappropriate and difficult to understand, but the truth is that the answers l gave were unchallenged and l summarized in a few sentence because of challenges of time 1.5 minutes to respond to two questions.
The answer was, “baptism is a divine and sacred service". Brethren l write an open letter to brother Charles and all members who think is of paramount to review microscopically this letter, and l have decided to write in order to make it plain to our brothers and sisters who were baptized.
There is enough biblical and historical evidence that God has made many covenants and promises in different generations and he has fufilled them. We all remember the Covenant which was made between God and Ibrahim to his generations as a symbol of priesthood and salvation, it was to remove the fore skin of the penis called circumcision. This covenant was a permanent symbol to Israelites and it was used to introduce them to gentiles that they belong to the family of God of heaven.
Despite of this covenant the Israelites still transgressed in most times against their God of heaven and they worshipped another gods and idols. They sacrificed their children and they shed innocent blood, but in most cases God remembered them and He restored them from their transgression. By sending a prophet. “And shed innocent blood, The blood of their sons and daughters, Whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan; And the land was polluted with blood.” Psalms 106:38.
This monumental of circumcision leaved a permanent symbols to Israelites and when they returned back to their God by repentance they were forgiven and they didn't be circumcised again because it was divine and sacred event. Any sacred service which is acceptable before the eyes of God especially if it is a covenant, the scar can't easily be removed unless the service was done and God didn't accept it.
There is no biblical and historical evidence which shows that Israelites were again circumcised when they transgressed against their God. This covenant ended after the first coming of Jesus Christ in the world.
Jesus made another Covenant to his people with two monumental pillars which are “Baptism and sacramental Supper". Salvation was no longer by circumcision and we can't abide with it.
Baptism is a sacred and divine service, which is conducted after a full convictions to a person. “The souls under conviction of the truth need to be visited and labored for. Sinners need a special work done for them, that they may be converted and baptized.”—Manuscript 17, 1908. This total conversion is proven when an individual by his/her own words and will, agree to accept Jesus as personal saviour to his/her life.
Baptism is a great step and decision in christian development. which need to be taken when the scriptures are made plain to a person and he/she can be able to explain the hope in him. Baptism is divine and creates a way to participate the second monument of sacramental supper that is the “Pass Over". So baptism leave a permanent scar to a person which can not be scrapped or washed by rainfall. Even temptations when comes will not broke this covenant.
If a person rebels against God and move astray from faith and he was already baptised and if turns back into faith, that convictions will lead him into repentance to his God and not to be re-baptized by water again. Baptism is everyday to the people of God through routine transformation by the Holy Ghost. Rebaptism was heretically introduced to make parallelism with Catholic doctrine of classifying sin and divide into small and large sin. There is no minor or major sin to Christian, all sin have the same weight and will receive the same consequence.
This knowledge most of our Pastors fail to make it clear to the new convert. Our ministering brethren make a decided failure of doing their work in a manner directed by the Lord. They fail to present every man perfect in Christ Jesus. They have not gained an experience through personal communion with God, or a true knowledge of what constitutes Christian character; therefore many are baptized who have no fitness for this sacred ordinance, but who are knit to self and the world. They have not seen Christ or received Him by faith.—The Review and Herald, February 4, 1890
The church re-baptize people because of their fear and hesitation of not to be forgiven. This does not verify this act. There is no evidence to renounce and claim at a time when the church preached to people about re-baptism. The preachers have to work eneough and educate the new convert and those who rebel and turn back again, the bible doesn't comfirm re-baptism. Confession and repentance are important after you have being already baptised and sin against your Lord.
The church has to reform the explanation of this doctrine to members. To do re-baptism is to lower the vivifying power of the holy Ghost which have brought conviction to a person to turn back into faith and obey the command of his God.
Baptism will not serve us. Salvation is not to be baptized, not to have our names upon the church books, not to preach the truth. But it is a living union with Jesus Christ to be renewed in heart, doing the works of Christ in faith and labor of love, in patience, meekness, and hope. Every soul united to Christ will be a living missionary to all around him.—Letter 55, 1886. Dear brothers and sisters baptism is only once and when we sin against our creator we are to repent and be renewed by the Holy Ghost.
