Shape ME Lord

“I cannot change this state of mine since this is how i am!” Words mostly proclaimed by most people proclaiming that some defects in their character cannot be reformed. One thing we have to know and  to understand is that our character will be maintained even after the Second Advent of Christ. From counsels on Health(43.4) Ellen white says that, “ When He comes He is not to cleanse us of our sins, to remove from us the defects in our character.....”therefore we see that character reformation is important in our christian walk since God expects us to reach a state of perfection in our character.

Bringing our thoughts back to Moses and having a short history of him, he was a man whom when we read of how God reformed him from a man of great temper to the most humblest man ever on earth. We get to know that God has power to shape us from our defects.

All these came from learning. Referring to Patriarchs and Prophets(247.3), we come to realize that “ In the school of self-denial and hardship he was to learn patience to temper his passions.”

God can shape us so as to fit for His work. There are a lot of things of which we need to unlearn so as to learn  what God wants us to learn. To some, spending 40 years in the wilderness by moses seems a loss of time but Infinite wisdom called moses who was to become the leader of israel so as to instill in him traits of compassion and long suffering.

All of these was possible because of “ Time, change of surroundings and communion with God....”(PP 248.1) Our task is to come to Christ for cleansing and earnestly seek a clean heart. Psalms 51:10 says “ create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.”

“Many accept an intellectual religion, a form of godliness, when the heart is not cleansed.......Deal truly with your own soul. Be as earnest, as persistent, as you would be if your mortal life were at stake.”(SC 35)

Let us be on our guard, stand firm in the faith, be courageous and be strong.

Blessings.

  1. Thanks much for the post,it has reminded me these lyrics.."Change my heart ooh Lord"

    You are the potter
    I am the clay
    Mold me and make me
    This is what I pray

    Change my heart oh God
    Make it ever true
    Change my heart oh God
    May I be like You
